The artefacts, which date back to more than 550 BC, have been praised for their historical value.
Meanwhile, the “giant” is thought to have lived during the Sasanian Empire between 224 and 651 AD. The skeleton, thought to be that of an elderly man, was discovered in a tomb covered with a stone slab. The man is said to have stood more than two metres tall, making him a “giant” in his day.

According to studies of human remains, the average height of persons living around 500AD would have been roughly 160cms. “In the course of recent excavation in the Chia Sabz area of Lorestan province, we discovered artefacts dating back to the Achaemenid Empire (550BC),” said chief archeologist Ata Hasanpour.

“In the north of the Chia Sabz area, we discovered the grave of an elderly man,” he continued. “It is made up of four clay walls that are covered with a huge stone slab.”

Ornaments, coins, pottery bowls, plates, and painted vessels were among the treasures discovered. The excavation also found two columns that are thought to be part of an ancient ceremonial hall.
